Community Service

The Community Service Program was created to engage youth in positive activities by giving them the opportunity to make a difference in their communities and have fun at the same time.  Young people learn about issues that affect groups of people and communities and volunteer to take part in projects that address the issues.

During the school year, projects are made available two or three times each month. Since its inception, CityKids' young people have collectively contributed over 800 hours of their time. Populations served include youth, the elderly, and the homeless through projects addressing violence, poverty, hunger, homelessness and depression.

The impact on young people has been powerful. They'll tell you that they've made new friends, learned new skills, enjoyed traveling all over NYC, felt good about making a difference and had fun being part of something positive.

If you're interested in taking part in CityKids' Community Service program, or if you have a project you'd like to suggest, please e-mail us.
