BridgeBuilder Initiative (BBI) CityKids BBI program empowers high school students as leaders and agents of change through the development of critical life skills and community action projects.
Since its inception, BBI has grown into one of CityKids' core programs, offering CityKids' arts-based leadership training approach in 10 public high schools across New York City. BBI participation gives young people the tools to effectively address issues in their schools and communities. After completing CityKids' 10-week leadership development training curriculum, BBI participants design, organize and implement collaborative projects that engage their peers, teachers and adult-led community groups around youth-led plans of action. By creating powerful relationships and networks within communities, our young people have the opportunity to start a public dialogue of change within our ethnically, economically, culturally, and religiously diverse city.
BridgeBuilder Initiative Youth Symposium: Each year, the BBI culminates in a youth summit where participants present their community action projects to parents, local community members and educators. In addition, participants receive awards for their powerful and inspiring work as well as personal growth through the BBI.
