We empower, engage, connect, and inspire young people to skillfully lift their voices and be heard.
Our motto has always been:
Each one teach one
Each one pull one into the sun
CityKids will be celebrating an amazing 30 year legacy of innovative youth development work with new, expanded programming for 2015:
After visiting The Albany Empire in Deptford London, Laurie was inspired by a brilliantly integrated center for both Arts and Social Services for young people. The Albany Empire was created by Jenny Harris in partnership with Princess Diana, was well ahead of it’s time, and is the model that inspires The CityKids Foundation’s partnership with The Door. CityKids at The Door brings the original vision full circle. Under the shared mission of empowering diverse young people to reach their potential, CityKids at The Door is an ideal partnership.
The CityKids Repertory (Rep) is also partnering with our sister organization, Harlem based IMPACT Repertory Theatre to offer two locations for training youth in New York City, expanding our school based arts-leadership programming. We will be enhancing our weekly Coalition meetings, as we take the reigns of “Chat the Planet”, an established, cutting-edge global media initiative that has already reached 300 million homes; connecting youth worldwide in two-way, internet-enabled dialogues that build international cultural understanding. We will also launch “TAG YOU’RE IT!” A national, disruptive campaign that will challenge global youth stereotypes and youth diversity.
We cannot thank you enough for your thoughtful and on-going investment in our work and our youth.
With your generosity CityKids will continue to positively engage, empower and inspire young people. Your donation and support are tax-deductible.
