OUR BOARD CHAIR

The CityKids Foundation is pleased to announce Michael Sternberg has been elected to serve as Chair of the Board of Directors. Mr. Sternberg is a Managing Director and global co-head of Morgan Stanley Strats & Modeling. His professional experience is focused on structuring and analytics related to Fixed Income and Investment Banking. He has served on the CityKids board since 2006 and succeeds Daniel Parker, Esq. who served as Chair for 6 years.

“ I joined the CityKids board several years ago impressed by the energy and positive message of the organization coupled with a long history of impacting young people’s lives in the community.  I am excited at the opportunity to grow the organization working with a tremendous board as the new chair,” Michael Sternberg.

Michael Sternberg brings strong leadership to CityKids. His board service and good faith governance are longtime passions, beginning with his leadership in resource development during a transitionary period for CityKids. He continued to take a leadership role in development of strategic goals, which are moving the organization through an upward trajectory. Michael also connects Morgan Stanley volunteers to assist CityKids in various capacities throughout the year.

CityKids is also pleased to welcome new board member Joanne Heyman, Founder of Heyman Partners. As a seasoned philanthropy executive with over twenty years’ experience in entrepreneurial organizations with a social purpose, Ms. Heyman looks forward to working with the organization’s leadership in developing long range plans and building opportunities for growth and development in extend our impact on youth.  Prior to starting Heyman Partners, she served as the founding Executive Director of the Urban Zen Foundation, a non-profit organization founded by designer Donna Karan where she oversaw the foundation’s programs and the creation of the Urban Zen Center. 

Our current and new members bring a variety of expertise to CityKids, including background in finance, non-profit management, arts, education, all have a commitment to youth empowerment, familiarity with strategic and organizational development, as well as an understanding of the needs of young people today.  I am very proud to work closely with all of the board in building a stronger organization.
